Posted by Maureen Hopper, Office Manager on Wed, Aug 10 , 2016

Thanks very much for all your contributions to the Loaves & Fishes Backpack Drive.  Through your generous donations, we filled three boxes of supplies — the drive organizer was VERY appreciative.  Maugel Architects also gave a monetary donation. The Loaves & Fishes organizers will use the money to balance out the donations they received over the summer.

Maugel Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity

Posted by Robin Peters, Marketing Director on Wed, Jul 27 , 2016

We had a great day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Ayer, MA. It's always great to help out our friends at Habitat. Last year we framed the house; this year we added the finishing touches.  Marcos, Mike, Riaan and Will volunteered to sprayfoam the attic. Bless their souls — it was hot! (Who knew it was going to be the start of a long summer heatwave?)  Brent, Jen and I first inventoried the contents of the massive storage container. It was a lesson in perseverance, but we got it done thanks to Brent doing most of the heavy lifting.  Kevin and Brent then got to work installing the mailbox and "Master Carpenter" Jen showed me how to use the power tools. (She is truly amazing.)

Thanks for Supporting Boston Children's Hospital

Posted by Maureen Hopper, Office Manager on Tue, Jun 21 , 2016

Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for your donations to Boston Children’s Hospital and for supporting us on this year’s Walk.  The day was beautiful and sunny, and we enjoyed the walk along the Esplanade lagoons and our favorite things: ducks, geese and the weeping willow trees.

We are so happy to have exceeded our goal of $1,700 and to have reached “Miracle Maker” status again for the 14th year!  We couldn’t have done it without your generosity.  Our deepest gratitude to you all for supporting this amazing institution in our own backyard that serves so many children and families in so many ways.

THANK YOU!

Maureen, Dave, Will & Andrew

Maugel Artists Donate Work to IIDA Art Uncorked Charity

Posted by Robin Peters, Marketing Director on Wed, Jun 01 , 2016

The 8th annual Art Uncorked fundraiser is being held on June 7th at District Hall on Northern Ave in Boston, MA.  The event is sponsored by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and recognizes local artists within the design and architecture community. Proceeds benefit Raw Art Works, whose mission is to ignite the desire to create and the confidence to succeed in underserved youth. Learn more at: http://www.rawartworks.org/home.

This year, two of Maugel's artists donated their creative talents to create pieces for the event. The talented Colby Cavanagh donated a gorgeous collection of handcrafted jewelry and Maureen Hopper used her skills in photography to create beautiful cards with images of nature and local architecture.

Thanks, Colby and Maureen. We are proud to have such talented artists supporting such a great cause.

Join Us in Supporting the Walk for Boston Children's Hospital

Posted by Maureen Hopper, Office Manager on Tue, May 31 , 2016

We are happy to be walking on June 12th for the Walk for Boston Children's Hospital. This is our 14th year supporting the fundraiser.  It’s still hard to believe that the first year we walked my son Andrew was only 5 months old and had fully recovered from heart surgery. Andrew had the surgery when he was 3 days old to repair a congenital heart defect: transposition of the great arteries.  We walk in support of the amazing cardiac department that detected, monitored, and repaired Andrew’s heart defect.  We are forever grateful for the research and patient care at Boston Children’s Hospital. Andrew is now a healthy 13-year-old who loves baseball and riding his bike and has no physical restrictions.

Thanksgiving Reflections and Gratitude

Posted by Sarah Cormier, Project Manager on Wed, Nov 25 , 2015

I spent the morning at the Loaves and Fishes food pantry yesterday. This was my 4th year volunteering for the Thanksgiving distribution, and it was clearly their most served. At the start of the morning, the Head Food Coordinator Paul Niemira spoke briefly to let us know the pantry had one of their busiest food drop offs in years. Initially, the pantry was low on turkeys and worried they wouldn't be able to serve all the families in need. Through the power of social media and word of mouth, 800 turkeys were donated and they actually had to TURN AWAY turkeys.  They are now all set for their Christmas distribution as well!

Walk for Boston Children's Hospital

Posted by Maureen Hopper, Office Manager on Mon, Jun 15 , 2015

Dear Maugel friends,

Our son Andrew was born with a congenital heart defect.  Andrew’s heart was “repaired” when he was three days old by an amazing team of cardiac surgeons at Boston Children’s Hospital.  He was fortunate to need only one surgery, and he has had no physical restrictions since.   At Andrew’s 4-month follow up visit with his cardiologist, we noticed advertisements for a brand new Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital (which was originally called Miles for Miracles) and we just knew we had to sign up.

Muckin A's Kickoff 2015 Fundraiser for Muckfest MS Boston

Posted by Heather Merwin on Wed, Mar 11 , 2015

As you may know, I was diagnosed with MS in 2000 and for 14 years I participated in the Walk MS, a 10K walk to raise funds to help fight the devastating effects of MS and support the efforts of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS). In 2013, I switched gears and participated in the Muckfest MS Boston. (For those of you who are unfamiliar with what Muckfest is….Muckfest is a 5K obstacle course constructed of steel and mud, similar to the Spartan Sprint or Warrior Dash, benefitting the National MS Society.) I captained the Muckin' A's, a team of 40 people. Together, we raised over $8,000. In 2014, the Muckin’ A’s grew to 108 members and raised over $27,000! We raised the most in Boston and were the third highest Muckfest fundraising team in the country!

Maugel Architects Volunteers With Habitat for Humanity

Posted by Robin Peters, Marketing Director on Mon, Jun 30 , 2014

The Maugel Architects team grabbed their tool belts and headed to Fitchburg to work on the Habitat for Humanity project located on Oakland Avenue.  The Habitat for Humanity of North Central Massachusetts is a wonderful organization directly involved in the fight against one of the major causes of poverty -- the lack of affordable housing for working, low-income families. The Maugel team endured the grueling high temperature, and with the exception of a couple bruised fingers, had a great time giving back to the community.

Maugel Architects Partners with Room to Dream Foundation - Creates Fundraiser to Assist with Multi-room Project and Other Projects -

The Room to Dream Foundationis pleased to announce Maugel Architects of Harvard, Mass. is spearheading an effort to raise funds on behalf of the organization.

As the designers for an upcoming multi-room project in South Boston, Maugel Architects is donating services and manpower by providing over 30 volunteers to complete the project.  The foundation typically allocates a budget of $2,500 to $4,500 per project, with the hopes that the team involved will tap into resources and connections for donations of products and services needed to complete the rooms.  In this case, Maugel is taking the bull by the horns by creating a fundraiser to not only cover the cost of this project, which is estimated to be $5,000, but to raise an additional $5,000 to be used for future Room to Dream projects.

Muckin' A's Raise $8,415 for National Mutiple Sclerosis Society

Posted by Heather Merwin on Wed, May 08 , 2013

On April 27th, MS Muckfest Boston took place at Devens, Mass. with 2,425 people participating.  Muckfest is a  5 mile obstacle course constructed of steel and mud, similar to the Spartan Sprint or Warrior Dash, benefitting the National MS Society.  The Muckin' A's, with a team of forty people, raised $8,415 in a little over a month. At the Boston location, the Muckin' A's was the second largest team and ranked fourth in fundraising! In addition to myself, Maugel's intrepid mudders were: Meg Kennedy, Christina Borella, and Jen Oliveri. (I guess the guys are afraid to get their feet wet.) I know we'd all donate a little extra next year just to see Kunz and Almy with mud on their faces...

Maugel Helping Those in Need at Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry

Posted by Robin Peters, Marketing Director on Wed, Nov 21 , 2012

One of the things I like about working at Maugel is everyone’s commitment to giving back to the community. It’s not conspicuously displayed on a wall plaque in the reception area to impress our clients; it’s ingrained in the culture and it’s done without fanfare. You see it through the lives of our employees—in the emails soliciting support for a favorite charity, in the events that our teams attend, and in the quiet conversations that co-workers share while waiting for their brew-of-choice at the Keurig machine. How people allocate their time will tell you what they value. I never asked Brent, but I would guess it’s probably one of the requisite qualifications for being hired at Maugel.

Gracefully Raising Money for Breast Cancer Prevention

Posted by Sarah Cormier, Project Manager on Wed, Nov 07 , 2012

This weekend was a weekend of giving for me.  I got a good night's sleep on Saturday and was up early the next morning ready to participate in a worldwide event in the CrossFit community called Barbells for Boobs.

Barbells for Boobs is a non-profit breast cancer organization whose mission is to provide funding for qualified low-income and uninsured women and men who need screening and/or diagnostic procedures in the prevention of breast cancer. The funding is provided through the Mammograms in Action Grant Program.  This weekend's fund raiser was huge--held in thousands of CrossFit boxes around the world. My box, CrossFit Wachusett (Fitchburg), teamed up with a box in Leominster to support this great cause.

Maugel Team Runs in 5K Hunger Run

Posted by Sarah Cormier, Project Manager on Mon, Oct 22 , 2012

Saturday was a beautiful day for a race.  The 5K was sponsored by the Nashoba Valley Medical Center for the benefit of Loaves and Fishes. First, let me congratulate Elsiana, Mike, Brandon and Christina for completing their very first 5K! Our very own John Lawlor took 3rd overall for the men and I set a new personal record for myself! Before the race, as we all lined up, the organizers from the hospital spoke about the sponsorships. Maugel Architects was mentioned and is also listed on the back of the t-shirts that were given to participants. Maugel was also mentioned for our part in re-designing the Nashoba Valley Medical Center Emergency Room.
