We are grateful for the opportunity to have worked with the Room to Dream Foundation on this wonderful project for Sydni and her family.  We could not have done it without the generous donations from our business partners, colleagues and friends.  Thank you.

The moment I met Sydni I was pulled in by the big smile and loving face.  I knew that this little girl had a sparkle that would not be dimmed by the physical challenges that she faced.  Her mother, Cathy, an inspiration to all parents, with a fresh outlook and endless energy, was thrilled to have us begin Sydni’s project.  With townhouse living there wasn’t much room in this home for the busy family of 4, so we set out to make their space as functional as possible while making their dreams come true.  I contacted Maugel Architects who jumped at the opportunity to get involved with Room to Dream and help this wonderful family. Christina Borella, of Maugel Architects took lead of her team and away we went!

We tackled three rooms for this project, Sydni’s needed organizing and maximizing of her space.  Her mom requested a comfortable chair so that she can sit and spend time with Sydni as they relaxed watching their favorite flick.  What they received was soothing lights, soft textures, loads of shelving for storage, a new Sonos speaker system and television.  A new chair for Mom, bright and cheery bedding and soft curtains to complement the design.

Tari, Sydni’s older sister had a love of the ocean.  Her custom loft bed was designed by Christina and executed by the team of Covenant Construction.  A few hundred board feet of lumber quickly turned into an incredible new lofted bed, basically doubling the usable space in the room. It provided a great place to sleep and an even better place to hang out with her friends.  A new closet system, a new television from Network Cabling Services, and great accents including surf board and sea shell decorations made this room a haven for this teenager.

Tristin’s room is heaven on earth for a young boy who loves to play outdoors.  A boy always in motion, skateboards were hung on the wall for shelves, baseball bats were cut to frame an Ink board and the colors accented his bright personality.  The win in this room was the custom bed with storage under and beside that was custom built by Masiero Woodworking.  Every inch was utilized to increase the storage while providing a fun and relaxing space for Tristin.

The volunteers were amazing on this weekend.  The project, one of the largest that Room to Dream has done,  worked long hours, their enthusiasm never dulling with determination to do their best with every element of the design. Maugel Architects launched a huge fundraising campaign and brilliantly raised enough money to complete this project as well as donate for another Room to Dream child.  Our hearts are touched and we will be forever grateful.

“I am not able to find the words to adequately thank you all.  Every day we have the most amazing time enjoying our new rooms.  My kids are over the moon ecstatic!” emailed Cathy.
