PIONEER CHARTER SCHOOL OF SCIENCE

Maugel DeStefano Architects and Hancock Associates performed the feasibility study and conceptual design for the Pioneer Charter School of Science (PCSS). The study evaluated potential sites on the North Shore of Boston for a new k-12  school. When built, the new charter school will serve close to 600 students from Peabody, Danvers, Saugus, and Lynn.

Maugel DeStefano assessed each property based on evaluation criteria such as location, property size, neighborhood characteristics, program capacity, cost, constructability, permitting considerations, future flexibility, and growth potential. Depending on the characteristics of each site, the team prepared diagrams to convey specific findings relevant to Pioneer’s program requirements. After thoughtful consideration, PSSC chose adjacent lots at Pulaski and Margin Streets on the Peabody/Danvers line. The project received approvals needed from municipal boards in Peabody and Danvers to move forward.
