Maugel Architects announced today that the firm has completed the 40,000 SF interior fit-out of the CCS Companies headquarters located in Norwood, MA.  This is Maugel’s third project for the CCS Companies, one of the nation’s largest and most successful Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) organizations. Prior CCS projects included a 130,000 SF interior renovation at 9 Northeastern Boulevard in Salem, NH, and interior improvements to the CCS facility in Portsmouth, NH.  The new building, located at 725 Canton Street, previously housed multiple tenants who shared a dark common lobby, corridor, and stairs.  Maugel designed a three-floor renovation transforming the space into a modern, light-filled headquarters for CCS.

“The Norwood location was great, but the interior needed to be fully gutted. We selected Maugel Architects based on our experience working together on the Salem, NH property,” said Steven Sands, president of the CCS Companies. “I‘ve enjoyed renovating many buildings over the course of my career, but the Norwood project exceeded all expectations like none other and at an overall lower cost.”

Maugel designed a new lobby featuring floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a glass and stainless steel stair rail that maximizes light into the space. With a nod to sustainability, interior window frames and floor-to-ceiling glass from CCS’ previous location in Newton were incorporated into the design. The original façade had a tired entry that blended into the existing brick and ribbon window line. To give the entry a greater presence, Maugel designed a new clear anodized aluminum curtain wall highlighting the new interior stair and main entrance.  The exterior stairs and ramp were replaced and refreshed with a new aluminum railing system.

“It was a pleasure to work with Steven and the team at the CCS Companies again.  Steven always has a clear vision for each of his spaces with defined parameters for budget and schedule,” said Sarah Cormier, Maugel project manager for the CCS Companies. “His willingness to explore new ideas results in amenity-rich workspaces that have great style and comfort for the CCS employees.”
