HISTORICAL MOVEMENTS

This existing historic home had suffered from several remodels before Maugel DeStefano was retained to restore it back to its original charm.  Many historic details were present throughout the existing home, including a boxed staircase that featured colonial construction detailing using wooden dowels instead of iron nails.

The first step was to move the home from the back of the site to a prominent corner facing a public park and museum. Everything was stripped back to the original framing and then returned with meticulous care to ensure authenticity. A well-designed addition complemented the historic structure and added much-needed updates, such as a kitchen and a master suite.   Life was given back to this historic home—now a gem in the heart of the city's Historic District.
