Maugel Architects announced construction has begun on Sturdy Memorial Hospital’s new 30,000sf medical office building in Plainville, MA. The new facility will provide the community with a Sturdy Memorial Urgent Care center, patient services, OB/GYN, and primary care.

The new two-story medical office building, designed by Maugel, will replace an existing one-story structure that was razed to make way for the new facility. Maugel worked closely with Sturdy Memorial to design a modern environment that maximizes clinical space and provides clear wayfinding for patients and visitors. Particular attention was given to creating efficient workflows tailored to physician working patterns and to providing seamless care to patients.

“It was a pleasure to work with the team at Sturdy Memorial on the new medical facility for Plainville,” said Colby Cavanagh, project manager at Maugel Architects. “Providing access to high quality healthcare at the local level is essential to the strength of the community. Sturdy’s new medical office building will be a wonderful asset for the Plainville area.”

Other team members include Equity Alliance, LLC and Dellbrook | JKS Construction. The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2017.
