The original 1900's clubhouse was an insufficient size. The "event area" consisted of only a small outdoor patio and tent. Areas of the structure had settled, resulting in plaster cracks and uneven floors. Insufficient building design and construction had resulted in drafty spaces. The club became concerned with having an antiquated facility with structural deficiencies and longed to host larger events and private functions such as weddings and anniversary parties that could be attended by the entire membership.
The solution was a comprehensive renovation and addition. The interior spaces received the treatment expected of a private club setting. The design team worked closely with the building committee and the club manager to establish new space: a function room with deck to accommodate 250, a new bar with lounge seating and an additional gathering space to accommodate 85. A gas fireplace with a natural stone surrounding adorns the corner of the bar. LED lights are used within the coffers of the function room ceiling, providing a soft light that enhances the architectural woodwork. Larger bathrooms were created and the wrap around deck offers an outward focus to the golf course and the vistas of the seacoast.
