SEABREEZE REVIVAL | Residential Design | Rye, NH

The owners of this three-bedroom home envisioned it as their forever house and sought updates that would modernize it without compromising its character. Working within the existing footprint, the team refreshed the exterior and brought in more natural light. Drawing inspiration from neighboring homes, the Seacoast setting, and sweeping river views, the design emphasizes indoor-outdoor connection with new windows, bifold doors, and a deck off the kitchen. Outdoor amenities—including a firepit, patios, and an outdoor kitchen—further extend living space.

Reclad in cedar shingles and detailed with gables, bracketed awnings, a petite portico, and fieldstone-clad chimneys, the home’s exterior was transformed with timeless character. Inside, a reconfigured plan allows the kitchen, anchored by a central island, to flow into a bright family room and breakfast nook. The living room now opens onto a new patio, while the expanded primary suite features a larger bath and cleverly integrated storage. Together, these updates create a light-filled retreat firmly rooted in its coastal context.
