The Room to Dream Foundation is pleased to announce Maugel Architects of Harvard, Mass. is spearheading an effort to raise funds on behalf of the organization.

As the designers for an upcoming multi-room project in South Boston, Maugel Architects is donating services and manpower by providing over 30 volunteers to complete the project.  The foundation typically allocates a budget of $2,500 to $4,500 per project, with the hopes that the team involved will tap into resources and connections for donations of products and services needed to complete the rooms.  In this case, Maugel is taking the bull by the horns by creating a fundraiser to not only cover the estimated $5,000 cost of this project but to raise an additional $5,000 to be used for future Room to Dream projects.

Christina Borella, a designer at Maugel Architects, initiated this effort by meeting with the family, “I was really touched by Sydni’s positive spirit.  She is such a happy kid—she didn’t stop smiling the entire time I was there.”  Equally impressive is the strength and selflessness found in Syndi’s mother, Cathy, who wants nothing more than to see her three children happy and healthy. “After only a few moments chatting with Cathy, I quickly saw where Sydni gets her remarkable spirit. Cathy has such amazing strength and energy about her,” added Christina.

“Maugel Architects is proud to support the wonderful work that is being done by the Room to Dream Foundation. The joy of the families humbles us and makes us realize how important it is for each of us to use our unique talents to help transform the lives of others,” said Brent Maugel, president of Maugel Architects.

The Room to Dream Foundation is a Boston-based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create healing environments for children who are facing chronic illnesses. As they recuperate and recover, the hope is that their renovated spaces will improve their quality of life, promote strength, imagination, self-worth, and aid in their recovery processes.  The foundation typically undertakes 8 to 12 projects a year, relying entirely on donations and volunteer work.

Maugel Architects has been providing commercial architectural, space planning, and interior design services to Boston area clients since 1993. To date, Maugel has designed over twenty million square feet of commercial real estate representing nearly $3B in construction throughout New England.
